5 Tips for Avoiding Blogger’s Burnout

blogger's burnout

Blogging is a great way to drive traffic to your business’ website and to build a stronger online reputation of yourself and your business. However, finding the time to write every day can be difficult. Even more difficult is trying to write new and fresh content each day, especially if you have a day job to deal with as well.

blogger's burnout

Believe it or not, writing great content day in and day out actually requires tremendous mental efforts. If you don’t take care of yourself properly, there is a good chance that you will wind up suffering from writer’s block, or as known in the blogging world: blogger’s burnout. To help you avoid blogger’s burnout, try adhering to the following:

Give Yourself a Schedule

time schedule

If you don’t give yourself a schedule, then there is a good chance that you will either spend hours staring at your screen or will stay away from your computer as much as possible. To run a successful blog for your business, you need to post to your blog every day. So that you don’t waste half your day, set a schedule for yourself. It will help you get into a routine so that you mind is ready to blog at a certain time each day.

Take Time Away from the Computer

Sitting for hours with your computer on your lap will do nothing but accelerate your burn out rate. At work, we sit in front of the computer, at home, we sit in front of it to browse our favorite sites, and at all times in between we are browsing on our iPhones. Make sure that you give yourself time away from the computer on a regular basis. Doing so will actually make you feel as though your work isn’t constantly following you around, and will allow you to be in the “real” world for awhile.

Force Your Mind to Think in New Ways

Trying to piece together words to make sentences and sentences to make sense is a great mental exercise, but it is only one form. When we overwork our minds in a certain way, we are more prone to burn out. Make sure to take a 10 to 15 minute break in the middle of each writing period and allow yourself to think differently during this time. Step away from the computer and work on a puzzle, or even spend 10 minutes trying to get to the next level of your favorite game – anything that will force you to get outside of your writer’s mind and solve problems in a different way.

Socialize

Running your own business is incredibly time consuming, but trying to increase your online visibility on top of simply managing your business funds through searching for a great credit card low interest rate or a great banking facility only adds to the amount of time you have to spend in order to be successful. However, you need to take time to enjoy the world outside of your computer.

socialize

Take the time to go out with friends, using that best credit card to rack up points for eating out or going to the movies. Not only will this give you the break you need, but it may also help you come up with new content ideas through friendly conversation.

Don’t Forget About Hobbies

If you aren’t interesting, then your blog writing won’t be interesting – and interesting content is a must for anyone wanting to own a successful blog. Make sure that in between blogging and business operations that you take the time to pursue something that you are truly interested in – whether it be running, dancing, painting, or beer brewing. Allowing yourself this time will give you the time you need to collect yourself, think in different ways, and gain new perspectives which will only make your writing much more engaging.

The internet is riddled with hundreds of blogs that are no longer occupied. Bloggers start out with the best of intentions only to quickly succumb to blogger’s block which they are unable to escape. Ever come across a blog that had the phrase “Sorry I haven’t written in so long…”? These are the words of a blogger overcome by blogger’s block.

Don’t let yourself or your blog fall in to the same trap. Posting great content every day to your blog is one of the best things that you can do for it if you wish for your blog to be successful. Make sure that you give yourself and your blog the time you and it needs to be on your A-game at all times – or else you could find yourself without quality content or a substantial readership in no time.
